The Reliance College Fund is now seeking a professional who wants to engage dedicated donors and empower potential new supporters in changing the lives of young people.
Overview
In keeping with the organization’s overall strategic plan, the Development Officer works to expand Reliance’s donor base and fundraising revenues by nurturing long-term philanthropic relationships with donors, soliciting donors for annual gifts, planning and coordinating strategic steps to reach financial goals, working on donor communications and development operations. This position provides ample opportunity for advancement.
The Development Officer will report to the CEO and collaborate with the Development Director. This is a virtual role that can be based anywhere within the U.S.
The estimated salary range for this position is $60–70K, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Development Director and CEO, execute the development strategy
- Build authentic, long-term philanthropic relationships rooted in shared values and belief in Reliance College’s mission
- Outreach to individuals and foundations
- Draft proposals and appeals for individual and foundation donors
- Solicit donors in conjunction with other team members
- Provide input on programs and marketing/outreach efforts
- Collect data to measure effectiveness of solicitations (both verbal and written) and confer with Development Director and CEO
- Assist in the management of a master communication calendar to track current, future and pending solicitations and relationship-building activities
- Maintain a good working knowledge of the organization’s programs and funding priorities
- Collaborate on development events, reports, and overseeing the databases.
Experience:
- 1+ year of experience in development work, such as direct donor gift solicitation, or equivalent experience in strategic planning and persuasive communications.
- Highly developed communication skills; strong writing skills; ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission and specific program-related objectives
- Highly organized
- Strong habits of execution and follow through
- Results-oriented with a bias for action
- Strong commitment to advancing the mission
- The ability to interact with board members and other influential individuals
- Good judgment and maturity
- The ability to travel approximately 25% of the time
- (Optional plus) Familiarity with the Great Books tradition or a demonstrated interest in classical liberal arts, philosophy, and the ideas that shape Western civilization.

- BS/BA or equivalent
