Why Attend Reliance Days?

Do you know a student who loves learning but feels uninspired by traditional education? They’re not alone. Research shows that up to 75% of U.S. teens are dissatisfied with their educational experience. Reliance College is changing that.

Reliance Days offer a rare opportunity to experience education as it should be: engaging, meaningful, and transformative. Participants explore great ideas through collaborative inquiry, develop critical thinking skills, and connect deeply with others who share their passion for learning.

Led by our founder, Marsha Familaro Enright, the Chicago Reliance Day will immerse attendees in the same methods and principles that form the foundation of Reliance College:

  • Socratic Discussions: Deep, guided conversations that develop reasoning, clarity, and autonomy.
  • Experiential Learning: Interactive activities that bridge ideas and real-world applications.
  • Timeless Texts: A curriculum rooted in the Great Books, fostering an enduring love of learning.

What to Expect

The day begins with an energizing welcome and introductions, setting the tone for the transformative learning ahead. Participants will engage in lively discussions on foundational ideas—from the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to Plato’s timeless exploration of virtue in Meno.

Lunch will provide a chance to connect and hear about the innovative programs at Reliance College, including our Great Connections Seminar. Afterward, attendees will explore art in an interactive activity, sharpening their perception and creativity.

The day concludes with a reflective Q&A session, leaving participants inspired and equipped with tools to thrive in a free society.
